Cat Grooming

Professional and qualified cat groomer Tracie

TJ’s was established in 2021 after completing a cat course with Absolutely Animals in London.

Cat grooming requires skill, specific training and specialist handling. I have two Maine Coons and a Mixed breed.

I have also attended a cat grooming course at Absaloutely Animals in London who specialise in cats.

Education and learning is vital to success. Regular training and research is done by myself to ensure I am up to date and knowledgeable.

All breeds and types of cats are welcome. Grooming techniques and styles are tailored to your cat’s specific needs, depending on their coat condition, health, and temperament.

The welfare of your cat is our top priority, and services may not be carried out if they are unsuitable due to factors such as age, weight, health, behaviour, or hygiene concerns.

Every cat receives a free consultation, along with ear and eye cleaning as part of the grooming session.

Why would you need a cat groomer?

Knots and matting in the coat can trap shedding hair, along with debris such as feces, urine, saliva, and dirt, making it difficult to maintain hygiene.
Seasonal shedding of dead hair – help may be required to prevent matts and knots forming.

Long coats which need trimming

Eye wash – especially on persians with their extra creases and similar breeds.

The eyewash may be something your cat does not let you do. This is important and should be done regularly to prevent infection and dirt/debris build up.

By cleaning areas soiled with dirt, feces, or urine, the cat can resume its natural grooming routine and maintain proper hygiene.
Overgrown nails can catch on you or your furniture. Regular trimming is essential to prevent the nails from growing into the pads, which can lead to pain and infection.

5* CLIENT REVIEW

“I took our almost 19 year old cat to TJ’’s as he had some matted fur that I couldn’t remove. He had never been to a groomers before but was a little star, thanks to Tracie.

He came home smelling lovely and I will definitely be returning to TJ’s again. Thank you ☺️”

Great with Gertie!

5* CLIENT REVIEW

“I have been struggling for literally years to find a groomer who can deal with long haired cats having 2 Persians.

So pleased to have found Tracie who was great with my Gertie. She managed to remove all her mats and was so patient and caring with her that she wasn’t stressed.

She’s so much happier afterwards and we will be back regularly to keep her top tip!”

FAQ

Tracie from TJ's with groomed Maine Coon cat

How is your pricing worked out?

Each enquiry is provided with a general price guide. However, during grooming, if additional services such as mat removal, nail clipping, or addressing other coat issues are required, these may be recommended and could incur an extra charge.

How long will it take to groom my cat?

Your cat’s grooming session will typically take around 1 hour. However, if your cat becomes stressed during the process, we will pause the groom and contact you. In such cases, you will be charged based on the time spent and the grooming completed up to that point.

Will my cat be near other pets?

Your cat will have a slot as 1-1. There will be no other pets in the salon.

Why is it so expensive to groom my cat professionally?

Cat grooming requires specialist training and it’s time consuming. Also cats are unpredictable and specialist training in handling and time will be needed at the groom. A cat has paper thin skin and requires delicate interaction.

Do you have restraints for cats?

For your cat’s safety and to help keep them calm, a muzzle may sometimes be used during grooming. We also wear special gloves to prevent accidental scratches, while the muzzle helps avoid bites, which can lead to infections or more serious conditions like sepsis. Cats’ sharp, long teeth can trap bacteria deeper into wounds, making prompt care essential.

To ensure your cat feels secure, we also use a towel to provide comfort, security, and extra safety throughout the grooming process.

Do you do Home visits?

Yes for nail trims at an extra cost for travel.
